Fishylake is a family run carp fishing venue in France which caters for disabled and able bodied
people alike, having followed all the recommendations of the British Disability Angling Association.

We are delighted to announce that we have received a gold category 2 commercial award from the BDAA with regards our facilities and access for disabled people. Please see their website www.bdaa.co.uk for further information.

The fishery is also environmentally friendly. We use solar panels for electricity and we have a
specially adapted toilet which is both environmentally and disabled friendly.

We are situated in the heart of the French countryside. Fishylake is around 3 acres with most banks treelined and is the perfect size for up to 4 anglers. It has variable depths of 3 to 7 feet and a firm bed with silt patches with a good variety of lillies in the quiet areas of the lake, where the fish can retreat to.

We also have a cabin which includes a kitchen and large wet room and toilet, all of which have been built to the specific requirements of the BDAA.

Dear Fellow Anglers.,

I have always been a keen angler and have been fishing since I was knee high to a grasshopper! My father used to take me fishing and started my passion for angling. As I was growing up I was a member of various fishing clubs and used to go fishing at every given opportunity.

I moved to France with my wife and two daughters in the Summer of 2006, having bought fishylake in the Spring. I understand that the lake had been in the seller's family in excess of 20 years. I was not sure as to the type of fish already in the lake but decided to add to the existing stock by introducing large carp and tench in November 2007.

I am a member of the IFM and am committed to looking after the welfare of the fish and the fishery whilst ensuring you have an excellent fishing experience.

We want everyone to enjoy their fishing experience at fishylake.

We are here to help you enjoy your stay at fishylake.

I have just come back from a week's fishing at fishylake and I have to say it was the best fishing I have ever experienced. Every fish I caught was in beautiful condition and put up an incredible fight. I also beat my personal best with a beautiful 25lb mirror carp. The hospitality from the Hawkins family was second to none and I have to say the whole experience was incredible. I have already booked for next year.                    7th July 2009 Pete from East Grinstead, West Sussex

I can truly recommend the fishing at fishy lakes. Following on from my short mini break (in the middle of a family holiday to France) to this family run fishery I will certainly be going back again. The three acre lake sits in a very rural setting which you can only gain access through a delightful private narrow track with overhanging trees all the way down to the lake. When I arrived the owner, Paul Hawkins, was already there waiting for me with the bait I had already pre ordered, 25kg of boilies, 50kg of pellets and a special  fishy lake method feeder mix.

Paul took me around the lake and told me all about where the fish were showing and sharing his in depth knowledge of how to catch the monsters of the lake. I’d decided to settle on Turn Key swim and Paul brought round the tackle I had hired, two Mitchell rods with reels each with 15lb main line. He then proceeded to set the bivvy up while I started to fish. It was like having my own ghillie but without the extra cost.

Over the two days fishing I had three fish to  27 ½ lb, 25 3/4lb and 24lb, not to mention numerous doubles up to 17lb. A lot of the fish came on a double pellet hair rig on the method feeder which produced vicious runs and broke the 15lb main line and on one occasion broke the hook. Most of the fish were caught from the margins and the far bank, casting out about 80yds and dropping the bait  just short of the reed bed. Both areas were fed with plenty of pellets, boilies and method feeder mix.

The facilities at Fishy lake are second to none and even better than what I have got at home.  The wet room proved invaluable and the kitchen was very clean and tidy. I can see Paul has worked hard getting these facilities to this excellent standard as he told me this is the requirement for accreditation for the BDAA.

Overall this was a lovely short break with superb fishing and next time I will be coming out for more than a few days. Paul advised that he is constructing a second outbuilding that will sleep 2 people comfortably so maybe next time the family can come and stay.

Many thanks Paul and the Hawkins family for a lovely break.

Ps Paul i will miss your cooked breakfasts!!!!
